Cedar Valley Photobooth returned to the Teddy Bear Tea! Read about the Santa visits, dance performances, and family fun at Gallagher-Bluedorn.
There are certain events in the Cedar Valley that signal the true arrival of the holiday season. They aren't just parties; they are traditions woven into the fabric of our community. For families with young children, few events capture the pure, unadulterated magic of childhood quite like the Teddy Bear Tea.
Held annually at the stunning Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, this afternoon of elegance and whimsy is a highlight of the year. At Cedar Valley Photobooth, we were honored to return for our second year to help capture the joy, the smiles, and yes, the occasional sticky fingers from the cookies.
It’s more than just tea and teddy bears—it’s a community coming together to create a winter wonderland for our littlest residents.

A Tradition of Wonder at Gallagher-Bluedorn
If you have never attended the Teddy Bear Tea, imagine a scene straight out of a storybook. The Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, already a jewel of our community, transforms into a festive playground perfect for pint-sized guests.
The event is designed specifically for small children and their families. It’s an opportunity for parents and grandparents to dress up their little ones in their holiday best—think velvet dresses, tiny bowties, and shiny patent leather shoes—and enjoy an afternoon that feels special but remains accessible for kids.
The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and buzzing with that specific frequency of excitement that only happens when Santa is nearby. It’s a rare chance to slow down during the hectic holiday season and focus entirely on making memories with the people who matter most.

Tea, Treats, and Tiny Dancers
The itinerary for the Teddy Bear Tea is perfectly curated to keep short attention spans engaged while providing plenty of "aww" moments for the adults.
A Feast for Little Ones
The centerpiece, of course, is the tea service. But don't worry—this isn't a stuffy high tea where you have to worry about breaking fine china. It’s a delightful spread of kid-friendly tea (and juice!) paired with delicious cookies and treats. Watching a three-year-old carefully sip from a teacup while clutching their favorite stuffed animal is a level of cute that is hard to describe.
Entertainment that Sparkles
While the treats are a big draw, the entertainment steals the show. The event features a performance by a local dance troupe, bringing the magic of the stage right to the families.
For many children in the audience, this is their very first exposure to the performing arts. Seeing the dancers twirl and leap in their costumes creates a sense of wonder that can spark a lifelong love for the arts. It’s beautiful to watch the children’s eyes light up as the music starts, completely captivated by the movement and storytelling.

Santa Claus and Second-Year Smiles
No holiday event for children would be complete without the man in red. Santa Claus made a special appearance, taking time to listen to wish lists and pose for photos. But Santa wasn’t the only one capturing memories.
We were thrilled to be invited back for our second consecutive year to provide the photo booth entertainment.
Why the Photo Booth is a Perfect Fit
You might think a photo booth is for weddings or corporate parties, but it shines brightest at events like this. Here is why:
- It’s Interactive: Kids love seeing themselves on the screen. It gives them something active to do between the tea and the performance.
- It Captures the Chaos (and the Love): Let’s be honest—getting a toddler to sit still for a professional portrait can be a nightmare. The photo booth is low-pressure and fun. We captured siblings hugging, babies looking bewildered by props, and grandparents beaming with pride.
- Instant Souvenirs: In the digital age, we have thousands of photos on our phones but rarely print them. Guests at the Teddy Bear Tea walked away with physical photo strips—a tangible memento of a beautiful afternoon that they can stick on the fridge or tuck into a scrapbook.
We saw so many familiar faces from last year, and seeing how much the children have grown in just 12 months was incredibly touching. Being part of a family's annual tradition is a privilege we don't take lightly.
Powered by Community Support
Events like the Teddy Bear Tea don't just happen. They are the result of incredible generosity and hard work.
The afternoon is hosted and made possible by several donors and businesses throughout the Cedar Valley. This network of support ensures that the event remains high-quality and magical year after year. It is a testament to how much our local businesses care about the community. They aren't just writing checks; they are investing in joy.
When you see local names supporting events like this, it reminds you that the Cedar Valley isn't just a place to live—it’s a community that takes care of its own.
Creating Your Own Holiday Traditions
As we packed up our booth at the end of the afternoon, surrounded by crumbs of cookies and the fading echoes of holiday music, we felt incredibly grateful.
The Teddy Bear Tea is a reminder of what the season is actually about. It’s not about the gifts or the rush; it’s about time spent together. It’s about watching a child marvel at a dancer, shyly say hello to Santa, or giggle as they put on a pair of oversized sunglasses in a photo booth.
If you are looking for ways to make your own events more memorable, consider the power of experiential entertainment. Whether it's a dance performance or a photo booth, giving guests something to do together creates bonds that last long after the party is over.
Thank you to the organizers of the Teddy Bear Tea and the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center for having us back. We are already looking forward to seeing how much the kids have grown by next year!
